Ok, Ok...I know it has been over 10 days since I last posted. Like I said before, time flies - and it makes a funny *shwoooosh* sound as it flies by me!

I don't know how many of of you are interested in attending conferences, but I want to shine the spotlight on one coming up the end of March. The conference is called 'Families in Global Transition' (FIGT) and will be held March 29-31 at the Houston Marriott Westchase in Houston, Texas. If you go to their website (www.figt.org), you can find out information on the folks who will be speaking, leading workshops, etc. It is a very good conference - believe me! I attended the last conference and just meeting other TCKs there was great...can you imagine all you can learn and pass on to others by also attending the workshops and meetings! So...sign up and I'll see you there!!

Hum, Ruth Van Reiken is speaking--wish I could go.

Is it my imagination or have a lot of the MK/TCK web sites been abandoned/ or grown obsolete? I get busy too--but just now I've checked several of them and they're still announcing the TCK World Reunion in 2003!

What contraversial subject can I bring up to help keep this site going?

Controversial subject? Well...I am sure there are plenty of them (subjects) that could be touched on here on this site.

I do apologize for not posting on this blog site in a more regular manner.

As for other sites - some have not been updated in quite a while, and some do update - but more on a monthly or bi-weekly basis.

I will be looking to see what subject you wish to place on this blog site in order to get some input from other readers.

Margie, Don't apologize -- I'm trying to eliminate extraneous guilt feelings from my own life, so the last thing I want to do is to make you feel guilty.

How about this for contraversy? I once had a man explain to me how all the TCK's he knew (he was speaking specifically about MK's) had a terrible sense of pride--pride not about money they had made but about countries they had visited, good deeds they had done, educational goals they had achieved. He called them "the lost people" (not spiritually lost, but emotionally lost because of their inability in relationships.)

I wasn't offended because the man who told me this had obvious flaws himself--he'd often leave his family in the States and travel to his home in Norway or work in Bosnia for up to six months. Who's to say he wasn't a lost person himself, though not a TCK.

So you take your choice of faults.

What I wonder though, is whether his criticism (while offensive) doesn't have some truth there as well.

Cuiabana (admittedly a "lost person.")

Do they ever have conferences in Mexico?

If you are referring to FIGT Conference, no...they do not have a conference in Mexico. This will be the 2nd year to have the conference in Houston - all previous years they were held in Indianapolis, IN.
